Do these annoy you?

I guess not. At least not me. They’re about my interests, what I write about, and part of what I think about (Yes, Zuckerberg’s almost into our sub-conscious now).

See now, Facebook’s put some amazing thought behind these ads. Primarily, they are about fan pages. Every start-up, every new brand page needs some fans, but a starting point is difficult to achieve without a considerable pre-existing network of people. These ads give you that advantage. They have two things working for them :

1. They’re not imposing. One can remove them if required.

2. They’re tailor made for interested people.

Facebook gives you the opportunity to develop your ad extensively on two levels.

First, you can choose the image, the text and do the hit and trial n number of times.

Second, you can choose the exact target market. Sex, age group, location, interests; the list is endless, and useful.

Best of all, these advertisements are not buggy, like those annoying pop-ups or two lines of text with percentage signs in them. These ads go with the decor, and best of all, provide useful leads sometimes. I myself have like about a dozen photography and artist pages from these advertisements.

These advertisements are not all that cheap, but they’re effective than most forms of advertising. Also, there’s an intricate bidding system in place which means that you have to devote a lot of time to judging the right method for your page. You cannot leave a ‘try on’ in the morning and check in again at night. You’ve got to be regular and constantly update your methods so as to determine the best combination.

Think about it.
